Most strenuous exercise, particularly cycling, requires a high level of mental alertness for split second decision making and super quick reaction times.
Studies have shown that a single serving of blackcurrant juice containing a standardised dose of anthocyanins increases mental alertness and decreases mental fatigue resulting in quicker reaction times in healthy young adult subjects compared to when they consumed a placebo (1,2).
